Weekend Recap - Sept 7-8

The first weeekend of regular season was nothing less than exceptional for the Rattlers Cross Country, Women's Soccer and Gold teams.

In cross-country running, Madison Scrimger kicked off the season with a leading performance at the first Running Room Grand Prix of the year, hosted by Concordia Thunder on Saturday, September 7th. She dominated the 6K women's race, crossing the finish line first with a time of 25:36.

Our women's soccer team had an exciting start to their season with a 3-2 comeback win against the Augustana Vikings. Despite starting the game losing 2-0, the Rattlers turned the game around, led by #7 Keeley Zambon, a first-year student from Spruce Grove. The winning goal came in the last minute, thanks to #10 Kiendra Leslie, from Jamaica, securing a 1-0 record to begin their campaign. Keeley Zambon was also nominated player of the game.

In golf, 2023 Golfer of the Year, Michael Valk, opened his 2024 season with an impressive two rounds, finishing first with a total to par Gross of -6. On the women's side, the second-year Taryn Sanderson ended the weekend in third place individually. The rounds were hosted by NAIT and set the Rattlers off to a strong start for the season.
