Rattlers Soccer Schedule Released

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) has released its 2019 soccer schedule and it will feature a couple of unique changes.

The ACAC is welcoming the Portage College Voyaguers to the North division schedule this year after two seasons of exhibition play. With this addition, there has been some reshuffling of divisions with the Lakeland College Rustlers moving to the North Division and the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings moving to the South Division. This will now create two equal divisions of seven teams playing a 12-game schedule each.

After tough seasons last year both the men and the women are looking to get back to their winning ways under new head coach Robert Cavicchia. Both teams failed to make the playoffs last year with the men finishing with a 4 win, 7 loss, and 1 draw record and the women having a 2-9-1 record. With some new motivated recruits and savvy veterans returning both teams are determined to make a push for the playoffs this season.

The ACAC season is highly competitive and it is bound to be a tough year to get into playoffs with only the top three teams in each division making the playoffs. The Conference Championships are being held by NAIT in Edmonton Oct 25-27 for both the men and women. This is the second year in a row that championships for men and women will be at the same location. The CCAA National Championships will be held Nov 6-9 with the men's taking place at Durham College in Ontario, while women's will be hosted by Concordia University in Edmonton.
