The Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers are pleased to announce the hiring of two soccer/futsal coaches for the upcoming season. Ian Tully will coach the men and Stephen Newton the women.

Tully brings 30 years of playing experience along with 20 years of coaching and 20 years as a Soccer Alberta official.  He has coached the local U14, U16 and U18 rep teams and led the U16 team to a provincial gold medal.  Tully has also coached in the Medicine Hat senior men's league.

"It is my belief that with the right attitude, effort and commitment, great things can be achieved both as an individual and as a team.  I believe that MHC has an excellent soccer program offering students a fantastic opportunity to create memories they will cherish for a long time.  I am looking forward to an exciting and challenging season ahead," says Tully.

Newton has been involved in soccer both as a player and as a coach for over fifteen years which includes time as both a player and a coach in the British Military.  He has coached for the Medicine Hat Soccer Association and the Rattlers Academy Soccer Club (RASC) program from the Timbit level up to the U14s.  He has also helped with the U10, U12 and U14 development programs.

"My main goal for the upcoming season would be to help the team get as much enjoyment out of fooball as I did when I played.  I believe this is paramount in keeping the girls interested in the game and having them continue with the sport that they love," says Newton.

For incoming players or prospective players, the coaches can be reached via email at or  Training for both teams begins Monday, August 13th on the MHC Pitch.

Medicine Hat College is excited to be adding these two men to our coaching family.
